Module VR23 deals with the recovery of Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) and the special requirements for each make and model. The module is supplemental to the Heavy Vehicle Recovery course as it deals only with the lifting and towing techniques for undamaged vehicles.
As each casualty vehicle can present the Recovery Operator with different challenges due to location, type of vehicle and manufacturer, the module aims to highlight the common elements affecting the recovery for most types of PSVs as well as individual ones.
The use of the Hydraulic Underlift is assumed throughout the module as the most suitable recovery unit for the task.
